Yep - You can buy one already built for less than 8k

It is one of the reasons I'm doing mine in da garage

I have seen 2 for sale in the past 4 months for around 5k (in central florida) one was an 88GT

However if you were going to put down 8k in coin I'd check to see if the V8 up in Ocala was still for sale he only wanted 7k me thinks - It was done right and looked awesome

Good luck and if you go it on your own I'm sure you can get some of us to come over and help for beers and hot dogs except for Marc who has taken a vow of only eating Cantaloupe an unleavened bread

But Pappy, how long have you been working on your swap?  $8K may be a lot of money, but the swap would be done.

The saying, if you have the money, you don't have the time, if you have the time, you don't have the money.

But Lar,

Why pay a guy 8k when you can buy one already done for less

P.S. I too was quoted a High price and the very next month that same person was trying to sell a completed SC 3800 swap for 2k less - Things that make you go humm
Also he wanted me to provide the motor and trans   rant

Anyway I'm proud of the knowledge I've learned/gained doing it myself even if it has taken me forever  wink

Phoenix,
What is for level of mechanical ability?
What year Fiero?
Auto or stick?
Power goals?
Daily driver,  show car or track toy?

Tell us this and we can make a better recommendation For how you can achieve your goal. smile

Now I am heading outside.  Hopefully I will get my 3800SC BACK into the car this weekend. Club meeting is next week.

this is a difficult swap, pappy is correct ! buy a fiero with a buick already in it,even if you have to drive some distance or fly ,, the average 3800 swap is never completed ,, I use to get a lot of flack on pennock forum from people who said this swap was easy??  kitty poop
the buick V6 will put out as much power as a V8 & is lighter
the best 3800 swap is with out the supercharger ,with ported heads ,but men go with the supercharger because is is already there & has eye pop
you need some one who has serious mechanical skills to do this to assist you
plan on 6 month to a 1 year unless you will work seriously every week end
the 4 speed GM transmission is a complete POS,make sure you get a good one ..
there is a man on this forum who did a caddilac V8 swap into a Fiero in a few days ,,so all is possible

What is for level of mechanical ability?  pretty good I have done swaps before just not a fiero.
What year Fiero? 1988 gt
Auto or stick? manual 5 speed getrag
Power goals? no goal just something more reliable than the stock v6
Daily driver,  show car or track toy? not a daily driver, project

to save money I will be attempting to do in my garage.

Donor car is 98 Pontiac GTP 3800 sc

I would post pics but cant figure out how to...lol
